Sounds Fishy

August 4th, 2008 by sarah

I love swimming, it’s one of my favorite things to do, but I’ve always had a fear of what lies beneath the water.  I’ve had a few freak out moments in my own swimming pool about sharks (no joke), so what I’m about to share with you is definitely not for me.

I’m all for pedicures.  They make your feet extra clean, soft and perfect looking.  I personally think the girls over at my local nail salon do a fab job, but for some, that’s not enough.  The states have just been introduced to a fish pedicure.  Yes, fish and let’s just say they feed on all your imperfections.

The appropriately titled ‘fish pedicure’ hails from Turkey and is very popular in Asian countries.  Small fish called, garra rufa (aka Doctor Fish) nibble away at dead skin and calluses on patient’s feet.  One of the first salons to offer this service is in Virginia and they offer their clients a 15 minute treatment for $35 and a 30 minute treatment for $50.  I personally could not stand the sensation of a hundred tiny fish whisking by my legs and feet and nibbling at me.  It gives me shivers just thinking about it.  But, many people out there are huge fans and it’s also been noted that the fish can also help aid people who suffer from psoriasis.

I think I’ll stick to the $20 dollar special down the street…but, please share if you have experiened the fishy pedicure!

About Cupcakes Taste Nice

My lust for beauty products has been around since I was a kid. I always wanted the most eye catching packaging and the sweetest scents. As a preteen I could not wait to get my first pimple so that I could try out the different acne products that were marketed to me in magazines and on TV. As I got older I just loved the girlie side of wanting to look and feel pretty. I love taking a shower on Saturday morning and having a plethora of products to choose from depending on my mood that day. I anticipate my beauty and style magazines coming in the mail so I can read and research new products. I even spend hours on the internet searching for factual reviews of the latest and greatest products.
