MegaGlo for MegaCheap

September 3rd, 2008 by sarah

My drugstore journey started last week by sheer accident.  I went to my local Fred Meyer store to pick up some grass seed (very chic), but I couldn’t resist walking through the makeup section.  My husband and I have been very focused lately on paying off bills, which means no shopping for this girl.  I’ve been incredibly good lately but I was itching to get something and that’s how I stumbled into the Wet n Wild section.

I generally steer clear of the Wet n Wild world of beauty out of sheer snobbery, but I have to admit that they have some pretty fantastic products for super cheap.  I actually made out with two of their products which are also two out of the three products I’ll be showcasing today, so go figure.  Even though their prices are already ridiculously cheap they were having a buy one get one half off sale.  Sounded good to me.

I ended up buying their MegaGlo face illuminator for $2.99.  The color I choose was this perfect frosty pink called Blushing.  The product itself is housed in this huge tub that would have cost me at least $25 if it was a department store brand.  Not to mention, it was half off.  I broke out the illuminator the next day; I was really excited to try it out.  For whatever reason at the store I figured it was a powder, but it’s actually a cream, which makes it shine more and it has more staying power.

The first day I used it I only used it on my cheeks and I used it alone to give me a nice glow, it was gorgeous and it lasted all day long.  After that I used it as a base before my blush, which looked great and then the next day I applied it over my blush starting at the apple of my cheeks and working my way out, stopping just before my temples.  I’ve also used it on my eyelids where it looks great alone or over my eyeshadow.  The best part is that it doesn’t crease on my eyes at all, something that does happen with some of my more expensive cream shadows.

One little word of advice that I can give you is to apply the luminizer after you apply your eyeshadow or mascara, when applying it to your cheeks.  Any bit of powder that falls from your eyes during application will catch into the cream making a streak when you try to remove it.  It just saves you from reapplying it again.

It’s been a little over a week now and I have used the MegaGlo illuminator everyday…I love it and I’m so glad that I put my snobbery aside and opened my eyes to the world of Wet n Wild makeup.  It has been a fantastic product and has already found itself a spot in my daily beauty routine.

About Cupcakes Taste Nice

My lust for beauty products has been around since I was a kid. I always wanted the most eye catching packaging and the sweetest scents. As a preteen I could not wait to get my first pimple so that I could try out the different acne products that were marketed to me in magazines and on TV. As I got older I just loved the girlie side of wanting to look and feel pretty. I love taking a shower on Saturday morning and having a plethora of products to choose from depending on my mood that day. I anticipate my beauty and style magazines coming in the mail so I can read and research new products. I even spend hours on the internet searching for factual reviews of the latest and greatest products.
