Think Pink For Cheap

September 3rd, 2008 by sarah

My third and final drugstore beauty find just happens to be my favorite.  About a month ago I wrote a post about Alexis Bledel’s high powered pink lipstick that she wore on the red carpet.  I was really taken with how beautiful and classy she looked even with that bright pink pout.  I knew I wanted to try the look out on myself.

I had intended on going to my local MAC counter to get a hot pink version of my own, because I know they have a huge selection of colors, but on my outing to Fred Meyer I decided to take a stab at a drugstore brand.  I think I started at L’Oreal and then migrated to Revlon, Maybelline and then finally CoverGirl without any success.  For whatever reason I didn’t give up and I headed over to the Wet n Wild section and that’s where I found the perfect hot pink color for only $.99!  There were no decisions that needed to be made except for that I knew I needed to buy it.

When I got home and tried it out I was thrilled with the results.  It looked almost identical to Alexis’s shade and it was just as flattering on me.  Since buying the lipstick I’ve worn it out a few nights and I really love the look on me.  My husband even complimented me on the color.  I now have to say that it’s my new signature color and I plan on wearing it a ton this fall.

The color itself is a part of the Silk Finish lipstick collection and is called 525D.  I went online to do a little more research and found out that the color is actually called Retro Pink, but my tube of lipstick does not have that listed.  If you can’t seem to find the color at your drugstore you can also purchase online at drugstore.com.  Just beware that they jacked up the price to $1.29…start saving your pennies!!

About Cupcakes Taste Nice

My lust for beauty products has been around since I was a kid. I always wanted the most eye catching packaging and the sweetest scents. As a preteen I could not wait to get my first pimple so that I could try out the different acne products that were marketed to me in magazines and on TV. As I got older I just loved the girlie side of wanting to look and feel pretty. I love taking a shower on Saturday morning and having a plethora of products to choose from depending on my mood that day. I anticipate my beauty and style magazines coming in the mail so I can read and research new products. I even spend hours on the internet searching for factual reviews of the latest and greatest products.
