Scarlet Is The New Face of D&G Makeup

February 13th, 2009 by sarah

Dolce and Gabbana is the latest fashion house to launch their own fashion inspired makeup line.  And who better to represent the feminine yet sexy label than Scarlet Johannson?

The makeup is inspired by fashion and the memories they had of their mother’s makeup as children.  The lipstick will actually be scented with rose, which reminds the designers of the way their mother’s lipstick smelled when they pulled it out of a handbag.

The packaging has a bit of a retro-vibe to it with its shiny gold packaging and soft curves.  The colors of their Spring line were inspired by the Mediterranean, the dark shade of dahlia (Gabbana’s favorite flower) and gold and black from the volcanic island, Stromboli (where the pair like to vacation in the summer).  The price of the line is on the higher end scale and will range from $20-$59; starting at nail lacquer and ending with powder foundation.

I personally think the new line is beautiful and the packaging is beautiful…something you wouldn’t want to keep hidden in a makeup bag.  I also think Scarlet is a great choice for the first spokesmodel.  Her first ad campaign was a Marilyn Monroe inspired shoot and I think the ad series meshes well with their new line.

If you are already in love with the line you will have to wait until March to get your hands on it and it will be sold exclusively to Saks for the Spring distribution.

About Cupcakes Taste Nice

My lust for beauty products has been around since I was a kid. I always wanted the most eye catching packaging and the sweetest scents. As a preteen I could not wait to get my first pimple so that I could try out the different acne products that were marketed to me in magazines and on TV. As I got older I just loved the girlie side of wanting to look and feel pretty. I love taking a shower on Saturday morning and having a plethora of products to choose from depending on my mood that day. I anticipate my beauty and style magazines coming in the mail so I can read and research new products. I even spend hours on the internet searching for factual reviews of the latest and greatest products.
