Facial: Love or Hate?
Probably one of my best gifts for Christmas was a gift certificate to a spa. And I have to stop and elaborate here, because it wasn’t to any specific spa, it was actually from Spa Finder.
Spa Finder is this great website that allows you to buy a gift certificate and then the recipient can go on Spa Finder’s website and find a spa affiliate and choose which spa they like best. At first I thought it might be hard to find a good spa, but out of hundreds in my area I found several I liked and that were near me. So, I just wanted to throw that out there if you need a gift idea, especially for someone who might live in a different city or state. And Erik, good job!
Anyways, I decided to get a facial because I had never had one and always wanted to try one out. I decided on this great eco-friendly, organic spa in my area who had all these great facial options. The only thing I worried about was if my skin would have a bad reaction. I got online (lots of wedding websites have info on facials) and looked up a good time frame to get a facial before an event (my event being my vacation) and most sites said to get a facial at least three weeks to a month in advance in case you have a reaction. Well, me being me, I did the exact opposite and decided to get mine three days before my vacation.
The facial and the spa was amazing. It was probably more relaxing than a massage and I loved all the essential oils the facialist used. I opted to get some extractions done after talking to the facialist and they weren’t that bad. My facial was an hour long and I got cleansed, a peel, massage, extractions and then all these great essential oils added to my face. I was in love.
My face actually looked great for the first week after getting my facial. It wasn’t until about the middle of my vacation that my face started to break out and honestly, I don’t even know if my facial caused it. It could have been the climate change and it could have been that thick goopy sunscreen I had to buy after I ran out of my original formula.
Either way after about a week of breakouts my face did clear up and it looks really good right now. Thanks to the pricetag I won’t be able to keep up a routine, but I would love to get another facial again. I even think it might be a nice gift for my husband, since all in all it was a very relaxing experience.
But, I want to know what you think of facials…do you get them regularly? Have you had a bad experience? Are you thinking of getting your first one? Please take a second to take my poll and feel free to share your stories and thoughts!!
