Pantene Myths Busted!
I can’t honestly remember the last time I’ve used a Pantene product, but every time I get the urge to buy one of their new shampoo or conditioners I am warned by either a friend or my stylist that it will ruin my hair.
I mentioned in a recent post that I am trying to grow out my hair and I have been really tempted to try out Pantene’s new Beautiful Lengths shampoo and conditioner combo. I’ve read several reviews in which people raved about the results and how soft their hair is and how it’s actually grown longer due to the lack of breakage.
But, as soon as I read the word “soft” in a review a little voice in the back of my head brings up a conversation where someone told me that the softness is actually because of a plastic coating that Pantene builds up in your hair. Or an even worse conversation where a friend of mine actually called her stylist in front of me so he could tell over the phone that Pantene “will make my hair fall out”. With news like that it’s no wonder I always skip out on trying any of their new collections.
Even with all this scary talk I decided to do a little research of my own today and that’s where I fell upon a Pantene topic that touched on this exact subject from one of my favorite beauty websites, The Beauty Brains. They not only busted the myth that Pantene is bad for your hair, but they also called out the fact that maybe your stylist is telling you it’s bad because they are told that by their sales representatives. Huh? Could your stylist really be trying to get you to buy their salon brand?
If you too have been frightened into believing that Pantene will either give you a plastic coating on your head or even worse, make your hair fall out, then you might want to read the post by The Beauty Brains yourself. I on the other hand will be on my way to the store with my $10 bill to pick me up some Pantene Pro-V!

I just discovered your blog today. Our PR girl for our company suggested I check you out. When I came over this past topic I had to speak up. My dad is a cosmetologist. My sister is a cosmetologist. I, on the other hand, got my license to do nails. I’ve used just about every professional shampoo under the sun for 25 years. Nothing had made my hair as healthy and beautiful as the Pantene I’ve been using for 2 years. I get compliments on how great my hair looks. Now being in the manufacturing business (albeit nails but I still work with a lot of chemist) there really isn’t a LOT to the science of making shampoo.
