Carrie Underwood’s Faux Haircut

March 19th, 2009 by sarah

If you’re like myself, then you probably don’t miss an American Idol episode (I can thank my husband for our weekly obsession).  This week was country week and Idol Alum, Carrie Underwood, came out to promote her new song with what looked like a new short bob.

I don’t know what everyone else was thinking, but I coud tell from the get-go that her hair was just pinned back.  There were actually several shots taken from below where you could see bobby pins holding up the style.  But, looking at sites today online I realized that a lot of people thought she actually cut her hair.

A lot of celebrities tuck their hair under to make it look like they cut several inches from their locks.  It gives them a temporary new style without the commitment.  Carrie used this trick herself last night but, personally I wasn’t a fan.  There was a little too much poof and way too much hairspray.  In some shots she looked like a Can-Can dancer and in others she looked like a country singer circa 1989.

But, others have pulled off this look beautifully, and someone I have in my mind is Lauren Conrad.  She sported a shoulder length faux bob a few years ago that looked great on her.  But, other celebs such as Rosario Dawson and Eva Longoria have worn even shorter faux bobs.  It’s a great way to try out a new style before you cut or to just have a fun new do for a night out.  I think Carrie’s look would have worked better if it was a bit softer.

Yay for non-commitment!!

About Cupcakes Taste Nice

My lust for beauty products has been around since I was a kid. I always wanted the most eye catching packaging and the sweetest scents. As a preteen I could not wait to get my first pimple so that I could try out the different acne products that were marketed to me in magazines and on TV. As I got older I just loved the girlie side of wanting to look and feel pretty. I love taking a shower on Saturday morning and having a plethora of products to choose from depending on my mood that day. I anticipate my beauty and style magazines coming in the mail so I can read and research new products. I even spend hours on the internet searching for factual reviews of the latest and greatest products.
