No Shame In The Game
Let me start this post out by reassuring you that the picture above is not a picture of my body. Now that we have that cleared up I can resume my topic on cellulite and why it’s so amazing to be a woman.
Let’s face it, cellulite happens. There’s really no way to permanently get rid of it and depending on your genes (thanks, mom and dad) you might be prone to more cellulite than others. We all know what cellulite looks like; cottage cheese is always a lovely reference, but what exactly is cellulite?
Cellulite is actually a fat tissue in the subcutaneous layer of the skin that contains constricting bands of connective tissue. It’s kind of like a honeycomb (getting a mental picture here?) which actually protects our muscles and organs. So, in a way it has a purpose. But, depending on your diet and your genes, cellulite might show up a little too much on your butt and thighs…not great when you want to show off your new bikini.
Things like drinking lots of water (it helps to flush out toxins) and changing up your diet and exercising more can help to ward off cellulite. But, there are also a bunch of creams and treatments out there that promise to tone the skin. I’ve tried a few creams to firm the skin and wasn’t too happy with the results. Most of the bottles even said that the fix was temporary, not what I was going for. But, a few weeks ago I stumbled upon a cellulite massager by Bliss called the, ‘Slimulator‘ and was filled with a bit of hope.
Bliss Slimulator:
The massager is used to massage the skin around your butt, thighs and even your tummy (any place that cellulite is evident) to help build circulation and to break up excess and trapped fluids in your skin…these fluids help to build the appearance of cellulite. At first I was a little wide-eyed and bushy-tailed about the subject until I decided to get serious and do my research and I was shocked by what I found. People, lots of people, were saying how well it actually worked!
I read probably over 50 positive reviews from only three sites. All said that after two weeks of repeated use that they actually saw a difference in the appearance of their cellulite. Most of them stressed, however, that they had to use the massager almost everyday to keep the results. The ones who didn’t really see any results, weren’t using the massager regularly.
The cellulite massager is meant to be used with a cellulite cream or serum, but most women found it worked well while in the shower or after they put on lotion. I picture myself on the couch using it while I’m watching TV…I’m such a contradiction.
I really wanted the Bliss Slimulator, but I’m on a budget these days and really didn’t want to pay $22 for it. I love to find a good deal so I started doing a little looking and that’s when I found The Body Shop’s version, which looks almost the same, for $15. I then took it one step further and found it even cheaper on eBay…loooove online shopping!
The Body Shop Cellulite Massager:
So, as soon as I get in my fantastic cellulite massager I will start rubbing away to see where my results take me. Hopefully I’ll see a bit of difference and maybe I’ll even add a few squats or lunges while I’m at it.
