I Love You, I Love You Not

July 3rd, 2009 by sarah

A few months back, while in Target, I found myself perusing the shampoo aisle when I came across the Umberto Beverly Hills hair line.  The whole collection was half off, so I started looking at the different product selections when I spotted the Repair shampoo and conditioner.  It promised to cure moisture starved hair that had damage from styling and chemical treatments (check yes to all of the above) so I decided to give it a try.

I fell in love with the scent of both the shampoo and conditioner after my first use.  The shampoo was creamy and lathered really well and the conditioner was thick and made my hair feel silky while wet.  Once I started blow drying my hair, things started going down hill.  I noticed that my hair felt tangled and it looked as if I hadn’t washed my hair in a week; my hair actually looked greasy AFTER taking a shower!  Not too happy.

After this experience I shyed away from using the combo for several weeks, but eventually the allure of the scent it left in my hair forced me to give it another try, only this time I decided to only use the conditioner.  After my shower, I timidly started to blow dry my hair, but it didn’t take long for me to realize that I was about to have a whole different experience.  I was left with incredibly soft, managable hair that smelled amazing (do any of you remember Outreageous?  This stuff smells exactly the same).  Since then I have not made another go of the shampoo, until today, which was a big mistake.  I thought maybe a bad hair day was to blame that day, but to my dismay, the shampoo simply sucks.  I am here typing this very second with very clean, greasy hair.

I am a huge fan of the conditioner, however, and would buy it again.  It smells great and leaves hair really soft and smooth.  I have fine hair and it does not weigh it down at all.  I could see this conditioner working on every hair type.  The shampoo is another story.  I would only recommend this to someone who has really coarse or thick hair, it just doesn’t mesh with fine locks.  I suppose that’s the way it goes…you can’t win them all!

About Cupcakes Taste Nice

My lust for beauty products has been around since I was a kid. I always wanted the most eye catching packaging and the sweetest scents. As a preteen I could not wait to get my first pimple so that I could try out the different acne products that were marketed to me in magazines and on TV. As I got older I just loved the girlie side of wanting to look and feel pretty. I love taking a shower on Saturday morning and having a plethora of products to choose from depending on my mood that day. I anticipate my beauty and style magazines coming in the mail so I can read and research new products. I even spend hours on the internet searching for factual reviews of the latest and greatest products.
