Mad About Jade

Once the colder months hit, we generally tend to trade in our bright nail polishes for more vampy colors, but I’m here to say that you can have both!  While I have no problem donning dark nails, sometimes I like to keep it on the whimsical side…and nothing says whimiscal like my new favorite nail color, jade!

Seen on such celebrities as Rachel Bilson, Drew Barrymore and Alexa Chung (not to mention every Chanel runway model for Fall 09), jade is definitely making its mark on Hollywood.  While Chanel made the color popular, you probably won’t be able to find a bottle of the famous color in stores.  It’s currently sold out…but don’t fret, somebody has it listed on eBay for $99 (yeah, not kidding).

Thankfully for us common folk, there are many other alternatives out there that are just as great as the original.  I happen to have fallen in love with Essie’s Mint Candy Apple.   Not only does it make me happy to look at my hands, but it also gives me cravings for mint chocolate chip ice cream!  I find it best to wear this polish with short, neat nails as it is a statement color.  I also like that it doesn’t make my fair skin look garish, the way some brighter colors can.  As for now I have only tried this polish out on my hands, but the first chance I have to wear flip flops, it’s going on my toes!

So give that dark purple, blue or black polish a rest and incorporate a little whimsy in your nail palette.  I guarantee that it will make you smile and all your friends will be dying to know what color you are wearing.

About Cupcakes Taste Nice

My lust for beauty products has been around since I was a kid. I always wanted the most eye catching packaging and the sweetest scents. As a preteen I could not wait to get my first pimple so that I could try out the different acne products that were marketed to me in magazines and on TV. As I got older I just loved the girlie side of wanting to look and feel pretty. I love taking a shower on Saturday morning and having a plethora of products to choose from depending on my mood that day. I anticipate my beauty and style magazines coming in the mail so I can read and research new products. I even spend hours on the internet searching for factual reviews of the latest and greatest products.
