My First Tinted Moisturizer Experience

I have never thought I would be a good candidate for tinted moisturizers. The word “tint” does not expel the notion of coverage for me, which is what I need. Since I have the pleasure of having fickle skin; sometimes it’s clear sometimes it’s not, I tend to stay towards makeup that has a bit more coverage than a tint. But, lately all I hear is “tinted moisturizers this, tinted moisturizers that”…so I decided to test it on myself. My best friend swears by them, but she’s also the person who in college washed her face maybe 3 times a week and still had flawless skin. But, since I think it’s good to try new things, I thought why not? I had my Super Bowl coupon from Sephora, which offered free shipping on any order over $25, so I decided to buy a tinted moisturizer. It was a toss up between DuWop Revolotion Face, Lorac ProtecTINT and Stila Sheer Color. I ruled out Stila, even though it sounded great, because I already have a ton of Stila makeup and I wanted to branch out. I had read a few good things about the DuWop tinted moisturizer, but I decided to get the Lorac. I believe I tried out the Lorac tinted moisturizer on one of the days I was sick. I remember I had to leave the house for something…or was it that it was Valentine’s Day and I didn’t want to look too scary when my husband came home? I think it was both. Anyways, I applied some tinted moisturizer to my finger and I knew it was going to go south from there. I might as well have applied plain old moisturizer to my face. There was no coverage at all and I ended up having to apply a ton of concealer and then I caved and applied a dusting of my MAC Studio Fix. So, I don’t expect to use this stuff much. My goal was to use it on the weekends, but I don’t see that happening now. I’ll probably save it for days when I go skiing, or to the lake or on a tropical vacation (hint, hint) since it does have SPF 30. Other than that, this stuff is not for me and will not be a repeat purchase.
