Dollars And Sense
I like to splurge here and there on big ticket beauty products, but what really gives me a thrill is finding a product on sale, or even better, finding a product that works just as well as a pricey one.
One such product that I could never justify buying is the Mason Pearson boar bristle hair brush. These brushes can run upwards to $150, and for what? To detangle, to smooth your hair, to spin gold through it? I don’t know, but I do know that I’m not that big of a sucker. There are many celebrities out there that swear by the brushes, but I don’t have as deep of pockets as they do.
Luckily, Sonia Kashuk, who has a wonderful beauty line at Target, has managed to make her own version of the Mason Pearson brush, for only $14.99. It’s not made out of 100% boar bristles, like the Mason Pearson brush, but it does offer you the same healthy, shiny and sleek hair.
So, what do you think? Is it worth the money for the boar bristles, or would you try your luck with the cheaper version?

I’ve owned both the SK and the MP. Go for the SK; you’ll never know the difference.
