How Do You Tan?

May 12th, 2008 by sarah

The results from my latest poll are in and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised!  It looks as if our generation has gotten the message about how bad the sun and tanning beds truly are and have taken different means and a different perspective on healthy skin.

0% of you, yes, ZERO percent of you tan several times a week.  I guess the orange fake tans are finally out of style…at the very least, future wrinkles are!

Some of you did admit to tanning on occasion, but at 12% that’s not too shabby and I’m writing those visits off to pre-vacation tans (still not okay).

I have to admit that I fall victim to laying out on the beach and not reapplying my sunscreen, and it seems that 24% of you have the same problem and cant resit tanning the old fashion way out on the beach.

Having a tan does have an effect on how you feel in a bathing suit or those summer shorts, but 29% of you forgo the sun and opt for self-tanners.  You still get the glow without all the bad side effects and there are some great formulas out there to try out.

35% show off what your mama gave you and don’t care if you’re tan or not, you’re more concerned about anti-aging and preventing skin cancer so you slather on the sunscreen no matter where you are.

Like I said, I was thrilled to see the results of this poll.  I think the best thing to remember this summer is to protect your skin at all cost.  Every time you lie out in the sun you are causing damage, plus being tan isn’t as trendy as it has been in the past.  I’m personally fair skinned and was actually embarrassed to show off my legs three years ago, but these days fair skin is in.  I say protect what you have, no matter what shade your skin might be.

About Cupcakes Taste Nice

My lust for beauty products has been around since I was a kid. I always wanted the most eye catching packaging and the sweetest scents. As a preteen I could not wait to get my first pimple so that I could try out the different acne products that were marketed to me in magazines and on TV. As I got older I just loved the girlie side of wanting to look and feel pretty. I love taking a shower on Saturday morning and having a plethora of products to choose from depending on my mood that day. I anticipate my beauty and style magazines coming in the mail so I can read and research new products. I even spend hours on the internet searching for factual reviews of the latest and greatest products.
