Help! Acne That Includes Dry Skin AND Oiliness
When most people think of acne, they think that oily skin is a big contributor, but that’s not neccessarily true. Everyone has a unique situation and today’s just happens to be people who suffer from acne but also suffer from dry skin and oil at the same time.
This might sound impossible to you, but it’s not. Certain creams, acne medications, astringents and the like can turn your skin into a desert and at the same time cause your sebaceous glands to produce more oil. That unfortunately is where acne starts. When you mix dry skin with drying products you are faced with even more oil which leads to breakouts. Basically, it’s all about balance. You need to know what condition your face is in, if you are sensitive to certain products and you need to read product labels and make sure they fit your needs.
Here’s a list of products that might help someone who has found themself in this particular jam:
Cleanse:
Just because a cleanser is moisturizing, doesn’t mean it’s going to cause your skin to break out. There are many cleansers out there that moisturize AND treat acne. The result is a balanced complexion.

Clearasil StayClear Skin Perfecting Wash: To be honest, I didn’t ever think I would write a review about Clearasil, but after trying this product out, I think it’s not only worth mentioning but is perfect for this topic. I got a deluxe sample of this wash and tried it out just because it was free and I was curious. I expected it to be overly scented and a bad texture, but it turned out to be very mild and creamy and it made my skin feel clean. Some creamy cleansers can leave a residue behind, but this one didn’t and the tiny microbeads added some gentle scrubbing action. This cleanser helps to moisturize and keep your skin soft, it’s oil-free and gentle enough to use everyday, twice a day. Plus, it’s cheap…nice bonus.

Aqua Glycolic: My plan was to only mention one product for each section, but I had to mention the Aqua Glycolic cleanser. I’ve mentioned it in a previous post, but I think this cleanser is a great option for everyone, especially if you have dry skin. The cleanser has helped clear up my skin dramatically since I’ve started using it and it’s so gentle and leaves my skin very soft. There is nothing drying about this cleanser. Another great thing about this cleanser is that you can actually use it to shave with. The formula helps to prevent razor burn on sensitive areas. You can do double duty with this cleanser.
Tone: I don’t like to go hard core when it comes to toners or astringents. My main reason for using them is to get what I didn’t get off my face when I washed it. Try finding a toner that is alcohol free and something that won’t irritate your skin or over-dry…this goes for everyone.

L’Occitane Purifying Rice Toner: This toner offers a matte finish to combination and oily skin, but it won’t over-dry. This is perfect for a person suffering with dryness and oiliness at the same time. This toner not only mattifies, but it also purifies, keeping your skin soft and radiant.
Treat: This is probably one of the most important steps you can take to clear skin. This is also one of the steps that most people go overboard on. Remember not to slather your face with pimple creams and clearing serums. Keep it light and only apply a thin layer. This stuff goes a long way!
Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot and Area Treatment: The key word in this treatment, is notover-drying. This treatment combines maximum levels of acne fighting ingredients and aloe vera gel, to treat without striping your skin of moisture. Glycolic acid helps to slough off dead skin cells to help increase cell turn over. This treatment can be used as a spot treatment or over larger areas of skin.
Moisturize: Moisturizing can be very scary when you have acne. A lot of people shy away from it because they are scared it will produce more oil and more acne. But, moisturizing is actually one of the best things you can do for your skin. It helps to balance moisture levels and get rid of that bothersome flakiness over time.

Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Moisture Lotion: This is an ideal moisturizer if you have dry, blemished skin. This moisturizer helps to boost surface cell regeneration, protects your skin from pollutants, hydrates and leaves your skin looking more radiant.
Masks: I’m a big believer in masks. I really feel that they help to purify your skin and they help to leave your skin balanced and your face clear. There are so many masks out there, just make sure to buy one that is specific to you and one that isn’t made with harsh ingredients.

Bliss Steep Clean: I personally own this mask and use it once a week. It’s supposed to be a facial in a bottle, and I truly believe that it is! This mask promises to de-plug your skin, remove dead skin cells and help to reduce the appearance of dark spots. I’m in, are you?
I hope that this list and this post has given you a little insight into what’s out there and what you should be looking for. These products aren’t the only one’s out there and I’m sure there are other products that might be better, but these will help to get you started or at the very least inspired. Good luck!
